Design

ROPS and FOPS can be installed on almost any type of moving operator driven machinery, to provide increased protection for the operator in the event of a roll over or from a falling object. Whilst ensuring compliance to the relevant standards, the aesthetics and natural lines of the vehicle are noted and incorporated in the design by a team of in-house draftsman. For this reason the ROPS design often enhances the vehicle’s original appearance. ROPS Australia also provide a comprehensive service, ensuring vehicles are fully compliant and adhere to mine specifications.

For those unaware, R.O.P.S. (or commonly ROPS) is an acronym for Roll-Over Protective Structure - defined as a system of structural members whose primary purpose is to reduce the possibility of a seat-belted operator being crushed in the event of a machine roll-over. Similarly, F.O.P.S. (FOPS) is a Falling Object Protective Structure, and is defined as a system of structural members arranged in such a way as to provide operators with reasonable protection from falling objects (trees, rocks, small concrete blocks, hand tools, etc). These two words have recently become very popular in the health and safety industries, and many sites across Australia now demand vehicles are fitted with one (or both within one) in order to gain entry.
